About 2 thousand persons have met at the most important event for education in Bogotá which was taking place in La Felicidad College.Experiences, inspiring speeches and strategic connections formed a frame to think about reunion, reconciliation and peace at school.

“The District Educational Forum 2017 is an emotional meeting with an agenda of quality”. This is how the Educational District secretory, María Victoria Angulo, describes this meeting with the Bogotá transformation into a city educational and in peace which started this Wednesday 4th of October with more than 2 thousand assistants. During the installation, the secretary pointed that learnings and peace have the same meeting point: school. That’s why the government of the mayor Enrique Peñalosa has the opportunity to offer an education in a good environment and essential knowledge. Moreover, they teach how to live in society with respect and life preservation as main principle for reconciliation.
All the panelists present during the first meeting, the professor Antanas Mockus, the father Fransisco de Roux and the director of Colombianitos Foundation Vivian Puerta, agreed on a deep debate concerning the importance of a training about socioemotional and citizen skills for boys, girls and teenagers. It’s necessary to recover the trust to strengthen peace where school has as a central role.
The panelists’ ideas have been shared by hundreds of citizens who watched the forum by a live broadcast and the conversation on social networks with the hashtags #VamosAlForo and #YoMeReencuentro which were national trends during the most part of the day.
The word, “inspiration” was the key word during the forum in all spaces dedicated to reflection and creation. The tent placed in the central patio, the library, the kitchen and the auditorium of the college La Felicidad have been changed into spaces of life for all the official colleges of Bogotá were we already can feel transformation.

There, masters, boys, girls and teenagers shared through different ways like art, philosophy, cinema or writing and learnt how to develop empathy, values, communal relations and new forms to be and feel at home and outside. 60 experiences have finally been selected and presented during this District Educational Forum 2017. In addition to offer inspiring debates and unique experiences, this forum “Educational City for reunion, reconciliation and peace” was also a collaborative creation scenario.
With a limit of time and 100% creativity, 5 groups of 32 students coming from 20 different locations of the city started a “Hackathon” to design, in 2 days, an analogical or technological prototype which responds to problems of the everyday life at school.

At the same time, strategic connections have been established to link the educational community to an educational policy for the government “Bogotá better for all”. Amongst other things, they socialized the sectorial plan “Bogotá, Educational City” and the reflection of representatives of the Council of Early Childhood, Social Integration Secretary and Foundation Plan about the challenges implied by the Integral Way of Cares for Early Childhood and its incidence on peace building and reconciliation.
The District Educational Forum has a big challenge to face in 2017: be an event with zero carbon emissions. To succeed, the Educational Secretary will measure over the two days the emissions by the land transport and air transport of the assistants, electrical energy consumption and solid residues generation through the methodology Greenhouse Gas Protocole (GHG). They hope to mitigate the results by pedagogic activities.

On Thursday 5th of October, the forum continues in the college La Felicidad with inspiring meetings about environmental sustainability, education and peace with guests like Brigitte Baptiste, director of the Institute of Biological Resources Investigation Alexander von Humboldt; and about innovation with panelists like Claudia Aparicio Yáñez, CEO of Dividend for Colombia.
Thus, they will keep going on the “Hackathon”, the strategic connections and the collaborative experimentations. Moreover, one of the 18 most viewed pedagogic experiences will be selected to represent Bogotá city at the National Educational Forum.
