In the ‘She Is Global Awards 2021’ the Colombianitos Foundation received recognition for the Organization with the power of change towards gender equality, thanks to the work carried out over three years in community settings and educational institutions.
Colombianitos through the implementation of the methodology of the program 'We play on the same field', uses the power of sport, particularly rugby with pedagogical intentions, to make social transformation and promote gender equality in overcoming stereotypes, respect for the dignity and human autonomy, with conflict resolution strategies, based on empathy, cooperation, new masculinities, and respect for diversity in remote and under-resourced communities.
Thanks to this gender equity program, more than 4,100 people have benefited in different areas of the country: Ciudad Bolívar, Suba (Bogotá), Puerto Tejada (Cauca), Barbosa (Antioquia) and La Tebaida, (Quindío), including children, girls and adolescents, parents, families and educational communities, promoting suitable settings for the interaction of school, family and social experiences.
"We not only involve children and adolescents, but also families and the educational community, so that learning goes beyond the classroom and the field, becoming principles of life with an impact on homes and communities," said Gladys Sanmiguel, executive director of Colombianitos.
In this way, Colombianitos has become a national and international benchmark as an organization that promotes changes in attitudes, behaviors and beliefs through sport, to build more equitable societies and generations free of stereotypes.
